About Inner Child Creative
Who runs this thing?
Hi there,
I’m Amanda!
Amanda + John, 1991I'm a clinical social worker, healer, educator, and artist—and the designer I always wanted to be but was too scared to become. If Ms. Frizzle, Daria, and Tracee Ellis Ross had a baby, that baby is me. I was always a creative kid but it took me a while to find my way back to her.
Some people take the highway. I took the scenic route, through hospitals and grocery stores, office cubicles and non-profits, public health departments and schools, community gardens and farmlands, classrooms and private practice. I didn't find this work by accident—I ventured into it after a long, colorful, winding walk through my community. And the whole time, I was asking the same question:
What does it take to be well?Inner Child Creative is where that question meets design.
I know what it feels like to stay in spaces that don't quite fit because what you really want feels too risky, too vulnerable, too possible to fail at publicly. I know what it's like to wonder if needing to build something entirely your own means something is wrong with you. It doesn't. I hope to empower you to walk the path that calls to you with passion, focus, and maybe even a lil’ fear.
Do it scared and keep doing it.
It gets easier, I promise.
I built Inner Child Creative because therapists and healers deserve a designer who already understands their work, their ethics, and their clients before we ever touch a single page.
Someone who brings a therapist's instincts to design: deep listening, curiosity, and the belief that your brand should be discovered, not performed.
When you work with me, imagine your favorite things about yourself, your life, and your work are in the room with us. You don't have to put on someone else's clothes and perform professionalism for me.
I bring my entire self—all of the messy, goofy, nerdy pieces. And I want you to bring yours too.
I know what it's like to hold a lot of identities that don't always feel welcome in professional spaces.
As a queer, non-binary, Black and mixed race, chronically ill, neurodivergent person, I spent a long time figuring out what it meant to care for others while also honoring what I needed. Building this business was part of that answer.
I created this space because I needed it to exist and I want it to be there for you too.
Out of Office
When I'm not building websites, you'll find me watching birds, chasing butterflies, foraging, making medicine and mixed media art, adding more books to a pile I'll absolutely get to, and collecting anything that's an odd color or soft enough to squeeze. I have a family that I adore, and a dog who rules the roost.
I notice plants wherever I go and I've been waiting my entire life for an animal to talk to me like Dr. Dolittle.
…I'm still hopeful.
I'm a devoted student of the more-than-human world—plants, fungi, animals, and every being that moves a little differently and knows a lot more than we give them credit for. I believe they are our teachers and our relatives. Which probably tells you everything you need to know about me. 🌿
